Uniontown shooting investigated

Uniontown, Pa (3-26-16) Police are investigating a shooting that took place in the city late Friday night.

Uniontown City Police Lt. Tom Kolencik said officers responded to the 40 block of Lenox Street around 9 p.m. Friday. The caller, a 20-year-old man, said he had been shot and was lying in the roadway.

The victim wasn’t identified due to the ongoing investigation.

Kolencik said the man was shot in the left knee area and lower right ankle. Police provided first aid and treated the wounds until Fayette EMS arrived on scene. He was then taken to the Uniontown Hospital.

While conducting their investigation, however, Kolencik said they received conflicting stories on what happened.

“Due to the victim, and witnesses, being unable or unwilling to tell us what happened, we are unable to determine if it was a crime or accidental shooting,” Kolencik said. “We’re trying to be diligent with our police work, and do our jobs, but this leaves us with our hands tied.”
